BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- China saw lower production of furniture in the first five months this year amid the COVID-19 epidemic, official data shows.
During the period from January to May, 309.75 million pieces of furniture were produced, down 14.4 percent year on year, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In May, the output of furniture decreased by 3.5 percent to 70.67 million pieces.
The total revenue of Chinese furniture makers in the January-May period was 222.25 billion yuan (about 31.46 billion U.S. dollars), down 16.6 percent year on year, while their profit stood at 9.59 billion yuan, down 36.4 percent from the same period of last year. Enditem
